edward
Next week they are opening a Hobby Lobby near my area, would it be worth the trip , and has anyone bought from them. Just curious OCtoolguy
JTTHECLOCKMAN
Depends on what you are looking for. They have alot of China made stuff. As far as supplies there are better places to shop but do carry most of everything. Not sure what a scroller would want to buy there. The BB is expensive as is other hobby stores. Paints and glues are high also. I have bought a few specialty things such as brass tubes or plating because I needed right away. But if you need right away then that is where they excel. Sycamore67
I think you should go and walk through to see what they have. F you buy something beware that they have good coupons. They also have a reasonable website. OCtoolguy
crupiea
I love the place, all sorts of fun stuff in it. Not really too much for scrolling but outside that it has lots of stuff. be sure to download the app on your phone because there is a weekly 40% off coupon on it. One item regular price of course. It might be a chore finding a regular priced item.. This is one of those stores that almost everything is marked way up and then they make you "feel" like you're getting an awesome deal because it's 20-60% off LOL.. Then they put out this 40% coupon and get people to come shop through the store for a " regular priced item " along the way looking for the regular priced item you find 5 things on sale you just gotta buy, LOL I like Hobby Lobby.. but I don't really buy much from them.. as Jim said sometimes a walk through the store will spark some ideas.. JTTHECLOCKMAN
The same thing with AC Moore and Michaels. I pick things up for my pen hobby at times. But the one thing I always buy from one of those stores is the box of exacto knife blades. can not beat the 20% off.
bcdennis
I get a lot of my Bass Wood (with the bark edge) there. Works good for fret portraits and such. jbrowning, crupiea and OCtoolguy
Wichman
The one thing I found at HL that I didn't see anywhere else in town was an egg shaped (xxl egg) chunk of wood that I use as a handle for my needle files. Very comfortable in my hand (no cramping on that tiny shaft.: Edited July 31, 2019 by Wichman jbrowning, OCtoolguy and Jim McDonald 2
crupiea
The foam poster board stuff makes for great backings for larger pieces of fretwork. Light and all one color. I usually use baltic birch but this stuff obviously is way cheaper. OCtoolguy
teachnlearn
You can go to their site to look at the specials and a general idea before you even walk out the door. They do have racks of one time stuff like other stores. RJF https://www.hobbylobby.com/ OCtoolguy
