Popular Post Foxfold
My first time using spiral blades along side my flat blades. I found the spiral quite 'scary', mainly because I'm relatively comfortable with my flat blades and I like nice 'clean' points and corners and the spirals gave me neither. . However, I'm not unhappy with the outcome and I can see that they have a place in my 'tool box', just not too often I think. !! Scrappile
I'd say that turned out very well. I saw a Charles Dearing Video a couple years ago where Charles was showing how he could make a sharp inside point using a Spiral. I never could do it. But he also never used less than a #5 spiral, I never use bigger than an 2/0 so maybe with a bigger blade it may be possible. In the half way done update you posted it looked to me like you had colored the eye on that tiger. Maybe it was just my eyes registering incorrectly, my eyes do some funny things. But it looked good... what happen? Edited August 24, 2019 by Scrappile Foxfold

I think it just showed up very 'brown' against the white paper, I've done nothing to it at all. xx Edited August 24, 2019 by Foxfold Scrappile

wombatie
I hate spirals and have used 3 spiral blades to make maybe a 4 inch cut and that was only because the project was too big to turn with flat blades so HAD to use the spirals and I broke 2 of them. So I take my hat off to you, excellent job. Marg Foxfold

MTCowpoke22
Looks good. I share your opinion of spiral blades. They serve their purpose, but are not my preferred means of scrolling. Foxfold
Bill WIlson
Well done Brenda. Now that you see what spirals are capable of and what you are capable of, you may find that you end up using them more than you might think. Your work is very nice and I can see that there is nothing that can stop you from taking on anything you think you would like to cut. amazingkevin
We have members here all female that learned on spirals and have stuck with them. Judging from your exhibit here I'd say the same was true for you!!! Your a natural with them. Spirals give the look you just can't get with a flat blade. Keep em coming!!!
