A Good Weekend Event

My 2nd best event of the year was this past weekend.  (Best event is coming up in October).

Lazy Dazy in Cary, NC.  350 vendors with 60,000 attendees.  This was my 3rd year and if it hadn't been for rain the first day cutting things short by a few hours, I'd have beaten last year.  As it is I sold just 12 less puzzles than last year so I'm very happy.  103 puzzles are in new homes.

My new offering of key/leash holders didn't do as well as I'd hoped, I took orders for 5.  Maybe they'll be of more interest as the holiday's approach.

Still about 9 events remaining this year with 4 of them being "holiday" events in late November into mid-December.

Oh, and the one snapshot below of the 4 bins are my new method for hauling my duplicates... So much easier than in boxes and then having to organize/alphabetize.  I have them in alphabetical order in the bins, just have to remove the covers.  One bin is "oddball" items such as rare breeds of dogs or animals that don't get asked for very often and aren't worth displaying on the tables.  I sold about 11 items out of that bin this weekend, so I was glad I had it with me.

Glad you had a good weekend Scott.  I had been wondering how you were doing with your summer sales since we hadn't seen you here in a while.

Hey Melanie,

Sales overall are down this year by about 20%.  My weekly local market has been quite slow.  Not only for me but all vendors, we're not really sure why.  But that's ok, this is still just my "hobby business".  My day job is kicking my tail.  I got a promotion and now they expect me to actually do work stuff.  😉  I hope all is well out your way.

Congrats on the decent event.. hoping your next few events are better so you can finish the year out with better than last..

My Etsy orders are down 16% but revenue is up 8% ... Guessing Amazon orders have more than made up and then some of my lost 16% in orders from etsy :) .. Not sure how well overall I'm doing as I haven't entered all my stuff up in my bookkeeping.. certainly better than last year for sure.. Hoping this holiday season kicks butt for everyone.. I really need it this year.. $2000 a month college bill plus paying rent for my daughter to live closer to school is going to hurt for the next 1.5 years.. LOL..

Some of the slow down I believe is because of the talks of the next election... and.. news media pushing their agenda of a speculation of a possible recession looming.. When there is uncertainties of future happenings etc... people spend less money.. They claim this happens about every 10 years or so.. and 2008 is the last slow down..

Man, it's tough when work gets in the way of scrolling. 😁  Missed half a gorgeous day Saturday while I was at work.

Hi Scott, I wondered where you had gotten too but by reading the posts I gather you have been busy 'working'.  :)  Good to hear that you had a good weekend, guess you will need to get back to your hobby job now and make up what you sold.  Oh what a busy life you lead.  ;)
