danny Posted August 29, 2019 Report Posted August 29, 2019 Anyone heard of this? Now I have to Change my Habits. Danny :+{ NEW LAW SEPT ONE START.html Quote
JimErn Posted August 29, 2019 Report Posted August 29, 2019 Riding in the fast lane is forbidden in most states though unenforced, now they put some teeth into it. Much like parts of Europe, ride in the left lane, get a ticket. If someone is coming up behind you with his flasher on, move over, or get a worse ticket. Be riding in the left lane and cause an accident in any other lane cause you were there, your fault. danny 1 Quote
Wilson142 Posted August 29, 2019 Report Posted August 29, 2019 Minnesota passed a similar law this year. About time. When I lived in Mazatlan, I found it rare that anyone settled into the left lane. It was used for passing only. A strange thing to get used to was, if you were following a semi and wanted to pass, the driver would put on his left turn signal to let you know it was safe. If he put on his right turn signal it was telling you there was oncoming traffic. And before you ask, yes, I new if he was nuts, he could get you into trouble. lol Never happened. Quote
danny Posted August 29, 2019 Author Report Posted August 29, 2019 Jim I Fully Understand all you say.... Here in Huntsville, AL is ONE major Parkway North to South. Speed limit is 55mph. I drove that to and from work for 27 years. All lanes were used all the time. Me along with Dozens of others used the Left lane as just a lane to drive in. Always so busy in work hour traffic Always there would be something that went wrong to STOP traffic. There is going to be More and More Accidents and Road Rage because of this law. And think about the Police pulling Offenders over to ticket them. Oh well.... Danny :+} Quote
tgiro Posted August 30, 2019 Report Posted August 30, 2019 PA has had a law like that for years, although the distance limit is four miles, not 1-1/2. As long as you're passing cars - OK. However; if you're doing that and over the speed limit, you'll get tagged anyway. danny 1 Quote
teachnlearn Posted August 30, 2019 Report Posted August 30, 2019 Is it half the fine for people that drive up the middle? Over the years have followed people that either couldn't decide which lane they wanted or couldn't see and drove right up the middle as if they were following the painted lane line. RJF Quote
danny Posted August 31, 2019 Author Report Posted August 31, 2019 Only noticed this twice (from the Save vehicle) Like you said staying on the Line. I say he is a Crazy and only is looking forward to causing trouble. Anyway still say the law will be Tried to be enforced, but I see Major Delays.... Will be a law abiding citizen and will look forward to noticing the happenings. Danny :+} Quote

crupiea Posted September 14, 2019 Report Posted September 14, 2019 I live in San Diego. There are a lot of driver who are from mexico here. The speed limit there is 50 so they are used to driving really slow. Not the end of the world and they usually stay in the slow lane. Everyone else just drives whatever speed they want in whichever lane they choose. Saw a guy passing on the right shoulder yesterday. Just stupid. I myself am not really in that much if a hurry to get anywhere, I ride a motorcycle to work most days and they actually encourage lane splitting which is odd. I do it when its really crowded and traffic is stopped but other guys just go balls out like they are the only ones on the road during rush hour. Quote

In town it worked nice. Out on the highway I had people trying to take the line on my left or right side. Going 65 and having people pass me in the same lane with a few feet between us was too much. I had a small motorcycle so it was doing everything it could to keep up at 65. Finally sold it for the same price I bought it. RJF Quote
JimErn Posted September 15, 2019 Report Posted September 15, 2019 I ride too, and I can see lane splitting when the road turns into a parking lot, or at an exit ramp that is backed up - would be nice if they allowed it here for that. I have seen splitters pass me, riding the dotted line at speed - not for me at all Quote
