Popular Post avenuewood Posted September 15, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted September 15, 2019 (edited) Hello all, just finished this pattern. Now this really did test me. It is a Charles Hand pattern. Thank you Charles, I hope I have done it justice. Should have said it is larger than the suggested size. Coming in at 24” x 19” 1/4” plywood. Wilson142 Posted September 15, 2019 Report Posted September 15, 2019 Well done! Nice pattern. What finish did you use? I am liking oil based finishes lately because of the amber color. Wasn't that long ago, I would only use water based in an effort to avoid yellowing. I must be evolving. lol OCtoolguy 1 Quote

OzarkSawdust Posted September 15, 2019 Report Posted September 15, 2019 WOW! What a beautiful piece of work! I've seen Charles Hand patterns on his website...they are all amazing! I hope to attempt one ( the easiest I can find! ) by this winter. How long did it take you? Did you work on that only...or take a break and go back to it? I think I read on here somewhere a scroller took a break to work on a simpler pattern and returned fresh to finish a complicated one. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
avenuewood Posted September 15, 2019 Author Report Posted September 15, 2019 It took me about 4 days to complete. I did about 4 hours at a time and then went onto something else. It was a bit nerve wracking getting towards the end. The whole piece was getting very fragile. Made the frame this morning. Used about 10 Niqua #1 blades. Only used the Niqua’s for the whole project. Had not used #1 blades before but went really well. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted September 15, 2019 Report Posted September 15, 2019 You did a great job on that. Like the finish and backer also.. Really nice. I have cut two of his ornate patterns so far and have three more to do.. I really enjoy cutting them. I like to have one ready and use it a filler work from working on other things. I dropped the ornate tigras one the other day, broke the lower jaw off, so I get a do over on it.... Wilson142, OCtoolguy and OzarkSawdust 2 1 Quote
avenuewood Posted September 15, 2019 Author Report Posted September 15, 2019 Thanks for all the replies. It is amazing how patterns like this are designed. Way above my head. i have another one of Charles patterns but that is a 340 cut one. Need to recover from this one before I start that. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Just starting, I've only used #5s but have some FD UR 2/0, 1, and 3 that should be here in the next day or two. Looking forward to trying them. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
