Even being an avid EX fan, I can't deny that I have been through the battle to find a comfortable place to put my legs. My problem was that I had to be right up on the saw because of the heavy magnification I use for my cutting. I have since found an arrangement that works for me, but I was frustrated by the front cross bar on the stand for years. My Hegner stand is welded, so zero adjustment there, but it is easy to straddle, so I just use the right chair to put me at the height I'm comfortable with. Some of my issue is my stool is tall and I'm used to the height of the Hawk.. and the EX stand is lower.. so I tower it some.. I have the legs set as high as they'll go.. I had a hard time setting at it for more than an hour because I tend to hunch over.. Just last week I thought maybe it'd help if I put a tilt to the stand.. rather than change the stand itself I added a 2 x 4 under the back legs of the stand.. that helps a lot.. But I really also need a shorter stool as well I think.. I have a 6x6 block that my foot switch sets on and I found that it's somewhat comfy to put my other foot on the top of that lower brace of the stand.. I'm happy I didn't give up on the saw at the beginning.. so many people loved their excaliburs and I wanted to love mine too.. Not knowing in the beginning I had a China made one didn't help me understand.. I'm happy that I kept tinkering around with it.. This saw is really nice running now that I've basically rebuilt the whole thing.. It now will probably have my Hawks set idle, LOL.. At least once I get a shorter stool or figure out where / how to get comfortable for long periods of time on it.. OCtoolguy

Seems to me that if you like the stool you presently use, it would make more sense to just raise the ex. Angle iron, couple of holes and hardware, and either add to or replace the lower legs. kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy

You're right, I've been looking at new stools as mine it getting pretty old than the padding is pretty broke down from the 15 years of about daily use.. I really want to try one of the stools that have the metal tractor seat pan on it.. Those old style tractor seats are contoured and have always been quite comfortable even without a seat cushion.. That said I'm sure I'll be adding a cushion as the metal pan on a very cold day might not be very pleasing to set on, LOL Maybe I'll look to see what it'd take to put a tractor seat I already have onto my current stool.. There are cheaper ones without the back rest.. But I think I'd like the back rest on it.. https://www.amazon.com/Delacora-LF-214-ORANGEYELLOW-GG-Metal-Swivel-Tractor/dp/B07B62MDVH/ref=pd_sbs_196_7?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07B62MDVH&pd_rd_r=7eaf918d-29f0-4a0d-9c86-652562b34f0d&pd_rd_w=4dwWs&pd_rd_wg=QSmxN&pf_rd_p=d66372fe-68a6-48a3-90ec-41d7f64212be&pf_rd_r=AFE5HP19DVMYHHSBSCYE&psc=1&refRID=AFE5HP19DVMYHHSBSCYE OCtoolguy
JimErn
@kmmcrafts I agree, a tractor seat pan is very comfortable, and a dense foam pad used with a sleeping bag is designed to isolate the body - interesting chair, the reviews make you wonder though, two out of three fell off! Wish the specs provided the minimum and maximum height for the seat - that to me would be important. edit = this one gets better ratings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BX1JSC/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B001BX1JSC&pd_rd_w=pqzM5&pf_rd_p=45a72588-80f7-4414-9851-786f6c16d42b&pd_rd_wg=a0KxD&pf_rd_r=B02DMVVCDQ33K8RTBNAV&pd_rd_r=7b7d945b-ef61-4c01-bd7e-49f0c58b17dd&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFOTjNLVkk4NVYxQyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRJZD1BMDQxODAxMTJZN1Q2TVhPTEVJVTgmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDMwNDg4MThRUU8wRlNBUENYMiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= Edited September 22, 2019 by JimErn OCtoolguy and kmmcrafts
kmmcrafts
Yeah the reviews on that particular one is not good.. I just did a quick search as an example.. There is one called a drafting chair which looks about the same.. and that one has a lot of good reviews.. OCtoolguy
