cjswoodcrafts
i need some help, i bought this pattern from pedro of finescrollsaw.com, and the pattern is for 1/8 wood, i will be using 1/4 inch wood, how do i scale the pattern to fit 1/4 ich wood (birch) its the windmill clock pattern, i have a kodak printer, if neone knows what % to scale it, would be great, thanks in advance Jim
mikesscrollsaw
Would you rescale the whole pattern? 1/4 is twice as large as 1/8 But if you rescale it that much the whole thing will be twice a big Couldnt you just go through each pattern piece that connects to each other and hand change from 1/8 to 1/4 Maybe im thinking of this wrong
Firedkm
Do you really have to re scale this pattern? I wouldn't think the thickness of the wood should make a difference in the pattern it self.
cjswoodcrafts
Dale, yeah the pattern said it is made for 1/8 wood, and the way some of the pattern is has that other pieces go into each other, hard to explain, but all i did is made them wider by 1/8 so 1/4 would fit in them. sorry if that dont make sense, but it is hard to explain, thanks
mikesscrollsaw
Thats what i was thinking two pieces are notched to fit together so youll just have to adjust the notches not the whole pattern
Firedkm
Sounds like you got it figured out. Please post a finished picture and then hopefully I will see what you were talking about.
Pixman
I don't worry about the thickness. I would draw it up and cut it except for the notches, leave them until last. Hold all the bits together and you will see what , if any, adjustment is needed. Re-sketch the new positions and cut them. Magic
