I too see how well you have cut this pattern and I have to feel a little of the thankfulness you feel for your eye doctor as being without good sight would be a really terrible thing to loose.

My question to you is.... Why do you not make these sign patterns yourself? Travis has a good tutorial on making them and with only about 15 minutes of watching his video and making a couple of them yourself, you can knock these out in about 10 minutes each. They are that easy to make.  Just a thought

Hi Dick, I have watched several videos including those by Travis. I can vie a video but I cannot understand what is said. My hearing loss is quite severe. Were it not for the generous scrollers here I would be quite limited. It is unfortunate I did not become more computer literate in the design department. I had all the graphic programs in my art department. Since we were doing work for designers and ad agencies We had to keep up with whatever they were using. I did not need to use it as I just hired people to do that work. I started out as a typographer business and over time also morphed into a commercial printing plant with a large art department. Now at 80 my desire for technology has waned. I do thank you for your suggestion!

I do understand. I will be 80 in April so I can relate. I am lucky with my hearing because if there are no noises like in a moving car or in a rather large crowd of people, I can understand most of what is being said, most of the time. I do have a good pair of hearing aids but they do bother me some as some noise is like ear shattering so I do not wear them most of the time. I found that the word signs were really easy to learn even with out hearing them and was wondering why you had not bothered to learn how to do them. I figured that you probably had not bothered to look them up. I have helped several people to understand Inkscape enough to get them started in pattern making and most have gone on to become pretty good pattern makers themselves. I know the basics and have made several patterns that I thought were pretty good but I do not have enough 'stick to it' to advance my own knowledge much. Thanks for your reply, I just thought it would be helpful if you tool a few minutes to understand how easy it is to learn this simple pattern making technique.

I made this pattern for Les and I enjoy doing these.  It depends on the how the names go together but it takes me about 1/4 of a football game or a couple of innings of baseball game.

Actually, I love doing them so if any one requires one like this send me a PM or post in pattern requests and I will give it a try.

Is the word signs a separate video? I watched the Inkscape basic series but don't remember the signs. I would like to learn them!

Great looking sign Les! Nice sharp letters looks fantastic in oak.

When I try one of those signs do you start with the small letters or the large...or does it make any difference?

I always start with cursive. They are not difficult but take more care. Then I do the large letters.

Thank you for your input Dick. Where and which video did you start with. Perhaps I should not be so lazy, get off my duff and give it a shot. Everyone who sees those name plaques is stunned. How did you do that? Can you make me one? It would be easy to take orders and sell them but there are so many other things I want to cut. My business days were over 20 years ago. Now in my dodage I like to just sit, drool and cut. I really do miss music! :>)
