OzarkSawdust
My new King 16" saw is in !!! Going to Kansas City to get it today! WOO HOO !!! Good thing too. I was cutting a different hummingbird pattern yesterday and noticed that I messed up. This one has a butterfly on it, and I cut the large pieces on either side...but there are several small cuts in the wings. I think, hope, I'll be alright. There are two bridges and the new King should have a lot less vibration. At certain speeds the WEN doubles as a paint shaker...two machines in one! crupiea, jbrowning, OCtoolguy and 1 other 2
kmmcrafts
I've had my share of paint shakers / scroll saws over the years.. mainly when I first started out.. but every once in a while I buy another just for the confirmation that my expensive saws are worth it.. Scrappile
Little advice. In the good old days, when you received an Excalibur from Seyco, it was tuned before shipping. All the buyer had to do was pretty much put it together and scrolled. The new ones do not get this service treatment from the seller. Read the operator's manual. It if it vibrates there are things to check and adjust. The main one is adjusting the motor by rotating it. Know there are things to do to tune the saw if it needs it. It may not, but just be prepared if necessary. You are one of the first I know of that has purchased the King saw. I am very anxious to read your opinions. OzarkSawdust
I'm back.….! Hoping to unload it today. We drove through one heck of a storm on the way south! Pulled in the driveway as it was starting to rain...about thirty seconds later a wall of water!! Dish is loosing signal, lots of loud thunder and lightning! Think I'll wait a while before taking it back to the shop, it's under cover in the pickup. OCtoolguy
OzarkSawdust
Well it did stop raining. I got it unloaded and into the shop, unboxed and setup. Did a little cutting before dinner on the hummingbird pattern I'm working on. WOW! What a difference! The King is MUCH quieter! I did hear the little "plastic sound" but from what I've read it goes away after while when it gets broke in by the blades. Don't want to remove the plastic because I may want to hook up the vacuum to it sometime. It's MUCH smoother too! I'm sure it's because of the double parallel link design, but also it's heavier than the WEN. It also has adjustable rubber feet. I really like having the controls at the front of the arm without having to reach the back every time I change holes. Besides the front blade tensioner I like not having to use an Allen wrench, I got a T handle, every time I put the blade in or out. I removed the side plate on the WEN because there is not a way to reach the bottom holder easily. With the King it's in the open. And speaking of arms...the lifting arm makes it much easier to thread the blade onto the next hole. After a few minutes I was able to thread it without bending over to look at the bottom of the board! The table is huge! I could take a nap on it...lol I stopped by Harbor Freight on the way out of KC and got a foot switch. Much nicer! Anyway...just my first observations. When it stops raining, yes again, I'll go out and play with it some more...before the NASCAR race. Scrappile
Nice looking saw. Let the fun begin!! Is the "plastic sound" where the blade goes through a plastic piece under the table that is part of the dust collection? I haven't tried the vacuum yet, but I may today just to see how well it works. Probably won't use it much as I have the blues or country playing in the shop lol. kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy
Rockytime
Looks like a real nice setup. Having a quality saw makes all the difference in the world. I think often starting out with a cheap saw really encourages people into giving up before they got a good start. I'm glad you are hanging and enjoying. I don't discourage a cheaper saw because economics play a big part in what one can afford. Have fun! OzarkSawdust and OCtoolguy 1

I bought a table saw and a bunch of smaller tools last year. I had never operated a scroll saw before but thought it looked fun. I wanted to see if I could do it and what it was like before I sunk a bunch of money into a setup. Looked at a bunch of used junk on Craig's List and LetGo...then decided to at least get a new saw that I knew was all there and worked. So I looked for a WEN but couldn't find one at the time. A month or so later they started showing up again, so I got one and tried it. It's a fun hobby for an old fart and something I can sell also. After a couple of weeks I knew it is probably something I can do and stick with. All of you here in "The Village" have made me feel welcome and helped me immensely to get on the right path...even with all my newbie questions...lol.
