Popular Post OzarkSawdust Posted October 8, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted October 8, 2019 Cutting another Steve Good hummingbird. Did about 1/3 with the WEN before I picked up the King...so much easier with the King! Got the top layer done today and started the lettering on the backer. The butterfly wings were really a bear. I tried a 2/0 spiral blade for the first time. They have a mind of their own! Dave Monk, Loskoppie, meflick and 11 others 14 Quote
rjR Posted October 8, 2019 Report Posted October 8, 2019 Very nicely cut. Sometimes the wood has harder spots in places and the blade will follow by itself! Many woods have places here tin blades will just follow a grain pattern regardless of your efforts! I used to work metal fabrication and found out even steel bar stock is no always consistent! heppnerguy Posted October 8, 2019 Report Posted October 8, 2019 Now there are more positive cutting for you. It is easy to see how just a little time quickly brings things into perspective. A very nice job on this one. spiral blades are a little difficult to get used to but with more practice, you will discover, in a short time that they too can be mastered. Don't give up on them. They too can become a part of your regular fret cutting, if only in the real small and delicate parts. Love you know peace and congratulations on your new King saw. OzarkSawdust Posted October 9, 2019 Author Report Posted October 9, 2019 Got the lettering done today. Gave the piece a couple coats of clear spray lacquer. I'll stain the backer tomorrow...probably walnut. Quote
