Phantom Scroller Posted October 12, 2019 Report Posted October 12, 2019 Look on the bright side lots of wood and more sunlight. Roly Quote
teachnlearn Posted October 12, 2019 Report Posted October 12, 2019 I'm planning on living in a bounce house that will survive snow and earthquakes. Maybe add a ball pit for the earthquakes. RJF JimErn and Phantom Scroller 1 1 Quote
Harry Barton Posted October 12, 2019 Report Posted October 12, 2019 I'm not keen on snow and fortunately we don't get much here in the sheltered midlands of England. If snow fell on me in October I'd move house! We occasionally have minor earth tremors (usually now blamed on Fracking). My son's in Toronto right now, so hopefully the weather's not too bad there. Anyway, glad no-one was hurt, and maybe some of that maple will find its way into your hands. Quote
barb.j.enders Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 Had to look to see where you live - we had a big storm here Thursday through to Saturday. I have probably lost a Maple as well. meflick 1 Quote
Ken O Posted October 14, 2019 Author Report Posted October 14, 2019 Well, just so you "Thin blooded" people know. We don't typically get snow this early. But I grew up in NW Montana so it's not that big of an inconvenience except for the cleanup work. It was a really weird front that moved in that night. It only hit about 1/3 of the city. Other places woke up the next morning and hardly had even any rain at all and were wondering what all the fuss was about. I called a couple buddies, my cousin and the neighbor brought his big trailer and we got it all cleaned up on saturday in a couple hours. There are a few pieces I saved for a co-worker that does bowls. Other than that I wasn't too concerned. The larger pieces were too heavy to move around so we cut it all up. meflick, Dave Monk and jbrowning 3 Quote
Jim McDonald Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 Looks like 2020/21 firewood there by the fence. Glad your "office" made it through, but loss of shade will hurt. Quote

Central and Eastern ND had unbelievable snowfall amounts which will be devastating to many farmers as much of the crops are still in the fields and are mostly ruined. Could be lots of bankruptcies. You do realize that it was a "Colorado low" that brought the snow! Lol Quote
Woodmaster1 Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 Ken your friend is lucky to get some nice chunks of maple to turn. He should let one of them lay on the ground for some spalting. Maple looks great when it is spalted. Quote
