Popular Post Fish Posted October 10, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted October 10, 2019 I did each of these with a #4 spiral blade and raised them a little. Each I finished with 321 or semi gloss poly. All the wood was given to me by my brother. I have already sold one at Art Z Studio for $75. My first one I did in walnut, the fourth one here, I went back to look at it but decided to leave it in the store, it sold three days later. That's ok, my brother is going to bring me more wood like this. The cherry one here is a little over an inch thick an is still in the garage. I think it would be too heavy to hang on the wall. I really like the grain in each one of them. Thanks for looking jollyred, RabidAlien, Scrappile and 12 others 15 Quote

amazingkevin Posted October 10, 2019 Report Posted October 10, 2019 The first one I see someone praying with hands clasped facing left behind the cross!!! I just noticed the crosses are all cut out of the slabs, Very nice effect!!! I favor the third one, Good job, Dan!!! Fish 1 Quote
Fish Posted October 10, 2019 Author Report Posted October 10, 2019 Thanks. The last Walnut one was my favorite too. It looked really nice on our dining room wall. No idea why I sold it. I’m glad someone else liked it too. Quote
rdatelle Posted October 10, 2019 Report Posted October 10, 2019 Those came out great. Even better when your brother gives you the wood. Fish 1 Quote
OzarkSawdust Posted October 10, 2019 Report Posted October 10, 2019 Love them all! The slabs give it a new dimension. OK...please explain the technique to this newbie..."raised them a little". I guess I'm not familiar with doing that...yet. It really looks great. Fish 1 Quote

By raising them I glued small pieces of wood on the back side of the cross and to the inside where it’s cut from to raise the cross up from the surface a little. OzarkSawdust 1 Quote

That gives it a different type of look. I'll have to try that! Fish 1 Quote
