Rockytime
I just replenished my BLO with a new gallon each of Mineral Spirits and boiled linseed oil. I was using it to apply to some oak name plaques. For some reason the mixture turned white. That has never happened before. I shook the mixture turning it milky and used it. Very quickly it separated as shown in the photo. It seemed to work well but leaves me curious. This happen to anyone else in the Village? Sycamore67
It is one of the new type mineral spirits. I have no idea is really in it but not true mineral spirits. OCtoolguy
dgman
It hasn’t happened to me. Looking at the label it says CLEEN STRIP GREEN. It also says 65% Renewable content which means its recycled. Also in Spanish it say SUBSTITUTE ODORLESS MINERAL SPIRITS. A few years ago I accidentally bought a gallon of the green stuff. I saw that it was milky. I only used it to clean my soaking pan and brushes. Did not use it for my 50/50 mixture because I didn’t know what it would do. danny, NC Scroller and OCtoolguy 2
Rockytime
Seems to work well but seemed weird to me. OCtoolguy
dgman
If it does what you want, then don’t worry about it! OCtoolguy
Rockytime
It worked just fine but was a curiosity not having that happen before. I does mean I'll have to shake it to keep things in suspension. OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
At least you were able to buy it. I live in "The People's Republic of Orange County" and we are not allowed to own MS. Even the "green" kind. SAD! OzarkSawdust
Bill WIlson
The stuff I get is low odor, but it comes in a metal can. I can't recall what all the label says, but I'm pretty sure it says "pure mineral spirits" on it. Every time I've heard or read about problems or the milky consistency, it has been with the more environmentally friendly stuff in the plastic jug. Scrappile
Sooo they put the supposedly environmentally good stuff in a plastic container? Duh, that makes sense... Dave Monk, Jim McDonald, kmmcrafts and 2 others

Rockytime
DANGER! I used this new stuff on several oak board plaques. Just now trying to glue on letters I find nothing sticks. I put down painter's tape for alignment purposes but it will not stick. Scotch tape will not stick. Turning the board over which has no BLO the tape sticks very well. I'm done for today. I'm PO'd!
