hayu
I keep seem ing different color stains on things. Like red, yellow and green. Where are these found? I have all the normal wood stains. Lowes looked at me like I was crazy when I asked.
Travis
I think most of those crazy stains are mixed at home. You can find tints at Woodcraft (http://www.woodcraft.com/Family/2005522 ... Tints.aspx). Some folks like using leather dyes. This really produces very vibrant colors, which is really neat. You can also water down acrylic craft paint and do a wash. I've seen others use watercolor as well.
grampa
If the peices are not to large I use Highlighter pens, the grain still shows through and can be sealed.......Paul
PawPawRay
You can also try cake dyes found in the cake decorating section of craft stores.
Messman
There are colored stains out there. For example I used a blue stain for a student desk for my son, I picked it up at Lowes. They also had some other colors as well but I do not recall what colors now, that was a number of years ago. Heck I don't even know if they are still making them. spirithorse
I bought a set of stains called WOODBURST several years ago in 6 bright colors. A search on the internet shows it is still sold. I have also heard of using Kool-aid and food coloring. They're both water soluble so you can use a finish on them. God Bless!
