Try searching "solid surface" not just Corian. Corian is a trademark name for the stuff there are several makers. Some time ago there was a website that sold cutoffs but I don't remember the name. There is a huge difference in cutting Plexiglas/lexan and cutting solid surface materials.

I'll give that a try.

@octoolguy,  messing around in the basement yesterday and I came across the trivet I made out of Corian.  Then later when in bed looking at old magazines I came across the article I read that was about cutting Corian.  The magazine is the SSW "Holiday Ornaments Toy and Gifts Volume 2"  Finding the two related item on the same day must be an omen or something, though I'd better post or or I might turn to dust or something...

Thanks Paul. I gave up on trying to find a source that didn't require my first-born. Never did find one for thin material.

I just happen to be setting up at a craft show tomorrow next to a woman selling corian cutting boards. She has a bunch of small stuff 4” square up to big sheets. Told her I was thinking about cutting some. Now I see this discussion an I have that holiday ornament magazine Scrappile showed. No excuses for me now lol

Find out her source and let us know. I've searched until my eyes fell out. Is she able to get 1/4" thickness? I'd love to give it a try.

I have only seen 1/2" and 1" . Far as I can tell there is no 1/4" but I could be wrong. I've made pens from 1/2" Corian. I was able to get 1/2" from a local counter top plant. I just went in and they showed me to a large saw and said help yourself to the scraps. I picked up an armful and they even cut it into 1/2" strips for pens. I did find some pure white 1" Corian on ebay for pen blanks and bought a few. Pure white is rare I think and colors are not common either. This information is worth exactly whatever you want it to be.

Odd timing of this thread. SDGOOD just posted a trivet pattern and wrote it would scorch if a very hot pot is put on it. He wrote, " Cutting trivets from Corian is an option that can look nice. Corian can be difficult to find and it is not cheap but it looks nice when cut. Some guys have had success looking for countertop installers and getting their scraps. "

Gee, wonder where I can find some? RJF
