Popular Post OzarkSawdust
It's been cold and rainy last two days, got the shop heated up enough to do this Steve Good pattern. I left it open instead of using an inside liner to turn a trinket box into a potpourri box. I used 1/4" birch ply, red spray painted lid liner, sprayed 2 coats of Minwax PolyShades Classic Oak Scrappile, meflick, Be_O_Be and 11 others
heppnerguy
you did a really nice job on this box. I am also making my wife one and I have been struggling with the joints. Sometimes things just seem to go that way. I am also trying a different finish and I do not like the one I am using on it. Win some lose some. Again, great job, it looks really nice Dick heppnerguy OzarkSawdust

I can never get the joints to fit right and end up throwing it away before I finish! I kind of like the way it turned out, and thinking of cutting it again soon with hardwood of some type. Got an owl clock about done, will probably post it later today. It's my first clock.
meflick
Beautiful job. I too struggle with those tab joints, which is probably why I didn’t download this project even though I liked it. OzarkSawdust
rjR
Nicely done. I have found that if I try to make joints like those I end up with a mess. OzarkSawdust
Karl S
Nice job on the box, I personally dislike the tab joints, and never use them on any of my boxes. I prefer to miter the corners. John B and OzarkSawdust 1

It is a wonderful hobby that allows one to make things for others, that before they started scrolling did not even know they could do such a thing. I am so pleased that you joined up here in The Village and continued to log on and display your work and make comments on others too. Isn't it nice how quickly one can feel the family unity here and how short a time it is that we also feel like we have known so many others that are members here, even though we have not met them personally? Table saw seems a bit too much over kill. OzarkSawdust
John B
Very nice Gary. I like the way you have converted the design into a potpourri container. OzarkSawdust

Boxes that size are really not a problem.

A table saw moving the piece trying to mimic a dado blade, that I don't have, didn't work either.
Ron Johnson
Very well done Gary. It'll look fantastic in an exotic wood. OzarkSawdust

Thanks John! This came out OK, so I think I'll try to sell it and make my wife one from hardwood. She loves hummingbirds. John B

I want to try some different woods. I think Ocooch Hardwoods has a grab box every few weeks with different size pieces of all kinds of wood. That would be a less expencive way to see how they look when finished. I could then order my favorites!
wombatie
Good idea to make it into a potpourri box. You did a great job on it. Marg OzarkSawdust

rdatelle
That came out great. I do the tab once in a while but I don't really care for them. Sometimes your better off with just a simple butt joint. OzarkSawdust
