flarud Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 Made this to give to a co-worker. His son went into the Army earlier this year. This took me much longer than I thought it would. I tried to go nice and slow,, lots of straight lines and letters, everyone knows what straight lines and letters are supposed to look like so there isn't any room for error. The wife and a few others say that it is nice but I see some things that I don't like. I stacked cut two of them so I may make another one. Another co-worker saw a picture of it when I was only half way done and wanted to buy it,, so I'll show him the finished piece and see what he says. Not sure what to ask as far as price. crupiea, Jronn65, Wilson142 and 6 others 9 Quote
Rockytime Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 Gorgeous! Is the flag background fabric? Quote
flarud Posted November 7, 2019 Author Report Posted November 7, 2019 Thanks Les! Photo paper printed out on the printer. Quote
John B Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 Excellent piece. I bet only you see the faults. Pricing is always difficult as there are many different factors and reasons for setting a price. Ask yourself "What would I pay for it" and use that as a guide. Quote
Scrappile Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 It is the "your own worst critic" syndrome. Certainly nothing wrong with that. Does it go with the little stand. I really like that also. Quote
Ron Johnson Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 I agree with Paul Barry. You've done a fabulous job. Quote
OzarkSawdust Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 It looks great! Your design...or a pattern from someone? Quote
wombatie Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 You did a terrific job, your friend will love it. Marg Quote

I wanted something different for the Army plaque than just hanging it on the wall. Scrappile 1 Quote

The plaque is a Steve Good pattern. I came up with the easel idea. I thought that it would look better than just hanging on the wall. I could have came up with a better design for it but I promise the co-worker that I would have it done by Thursday and was running out of time. OzarkSawdust 1 Quote

oldhudson Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 Great looking piece. That photo background is really creative. Those brass accents add a 'military' feel. It's got a great patriot vibe. Having it on the easel adds to the overall presentation too. I sell some woodworking stuff, but not scroll work. But IMHO I'd ask between $125 and $160. Congrats on a great project! Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 That's great you already have another sale from showing this one .Great job, You might be surprised what you get for this one!!! Quote
Wilson142 Posted November 7, 2019 Report Posted November 7, 2019 Nice piece. " everyone knows what straight lines and letters are supposed to look like so there isn't any room for error." Truer words are hard to find. Add duplicating curves on opposite sides of the cutting. Any deviation in height, width or curvature sticks out like a sore thumb. Quote

I thought about some kind of fringe or material hanging down off of it,, I'm sure that there is a name of what I'm talking about. Quote
