Denny Knappen
I cut six Miniature Birdhouse Ornaments on the Pegas Scroll Saw. I used 1 1/2” square Ash. I used Pegas MGT #7 blades. I cut the first two using the same blade. It started to drag on the second one but cut without any problems. The Saw cut with very little vibration even with thick stock. So far very impressed with the Saw. OCtoolguy, cskipper, Jim McDonald and 2 others 3
OCtoolguy
Thanks for your input. I think the Pegas is going to become the saw to have. I know I am in love with my Excalibur 21. GrampaJim

hotshot
Denny, do you see any differences in the new pegas vs old ex with pegas clamps? If you have the green ex, then it wouldn’t have the dust collection holes in the table, but was interested if there were “new” enhancements. I would really like to see pegas innovate as they did with the clamps. They really need to fix the dust collection mechanism if they haven’t already. i have the king with that dust control stuff, and prefer the green ex without it. I see very little difference except that the EX21 is about 6 years older. The EX21 has the Pegas blade clamps which is a must improvement. Dust collection is the same as the black EX21. I removed it when I installed the Seyco on the Pegas. OCtoolguy

Yep, I removed it from my King also, but the holes remain, which occasionally catch a small piece. -----Randy Edited November 10, 2019 by hotshot OCtoolguy
spirithorse
Nice work, Denny, Does ash usually cut fairly easily? Someone has offered to give me some ash slabs and I don't know what I can make for him to repay him for it. I hope it cuts easily. God Bless! Not so much for you with the coin cutting. OCtoolguy

I would say about the same as Hard Maple. OCtoolguy
Sycamore67
I would say that Ash cuts hard and easy. It has a very obvious grain and you can feel it as you cut. Parts of the grain are hard and other softer. For me, maple is uniform in how it cuts. OCtoolguy
