crupiea
I want to do a sort of bible project that will call for only staining certain areas of the background pice. Lots of tiny bubbles and such will be left unstainded. My question is has anyone used that masking liquid stuff for this type of thing? no possible way to take it off. Was hoping for something i could just brush on. Any tips would be great. OCtoolguy
spirithorse
If I want to stain just certain areas, I separate the areas with a wood burner so the stain doesn't seep. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse OCtoolguy and crupiea 1
Sycamore67
You could use polyurethane in the areas you do not want stained. OCtoolguy
jollyred
The liquid stuff is called "liquid frisket", and is used to mask off areas where paint or stain is not needed, It is applied with a brush and can be rubbed off when the paint dries. Check with Dick Blick or other art supply stores for more information and to order. OCtoolguy and crupiea 1
John B
Be careful as stain is not like paint. There is a better than even chance that it will bleed under any type of masking.@spirithorse 's suggestion of burning the borders seems like winner. JimErn
Play with some scrap, some wood I can just brush on the stain in certain areas, others I have use a utility knife and score the line before brushing on the stain.
