Scroll Sawn Gifts Challenge

This scroll saw challenge should be an easy one.  Share a pic of your scroll sawn gifts this Holiday season!  There's nothing more special than a handmade gift.  It could be a gift for family, friends, coworkers, or stuff you sell at Holiday craft shows!  While we love to see your projects, it's the stories behind the project that makes it special.  So tell us a little bit about it.

Almost everyone is getting a scroll-sawn gift from me this Christmas so it's very hard for me to pick just one.

But I will do so.

Four people who are not expecting a gift but will get one because of their assistance to me and my family over the last year will be getting one of these, Sue Mey designed, Christmas trees:

Well these have been talked about here and I decided to add them to my show items and hope they sell well and make great gifts for many this season as my shows start this weekend. The cocktail napkin holders. I will give people choice of color of napkins at show. If these take off I hope to add more to the lineup next year. I still think this is a cool idea. Hope others do to.

Yo Clockman, very cool idea indeed. How does it work, hooking up the napkins? And is this your design/idea?

No this is not my idea. This topic came up a few times during the summer . I believe it was this thread that started things but I can not remember.

These were popular on some Russian sites and brought over here. I have been working with a couple people to get me some of the designs. Don in Brooklin, and Ivan Nikolaev, members here. If you do a search here you will see these threads about this type napkin holders. Others have created designs and joined in also. I have other ideas if these do take off and will work on them this winter. I have shown the back of these 2 to show you the simple way the napkins mount. These are 5 X 5 cocktail napkins folded in a triangle and slid in the wheel. These are patterns basically taken from some laser cut patterns found on etsy.

Is the tree you design John?  Or could you tell me where you got the pattern from, I would love it for our Christmas table.

I made this especially for my grandson.  He will be gob smacked because I always told him that I would never cut it.

The tree is basically my design,  yes. All I did was find a basic Christmas tree on Pintrest and added the wheels to it. Those wheels were shown here before on a thread about napkin holders. I added a star to it.  I will see if I find it here. Used the same round base I did for the others and sized it according to the size napkins I used. I believe the 5 X 5 size is perfect for these things. You have my permission to do as you wish. 

I used the same rings that Don used for his Valentines day one. Open his PDF file and you will see them. I will be making that pattern too for next year. Did not have enough time this year.

I'm still working on several gifts of Christmas stuff.  Seems like I have too much started and not enough getting done...  I did finish this one which is a gift.

Here are the 2 ornaments I finished this year, both by Steve Good. The 1st one is for my son and daughter-in-law for last year. They bought a house last November but were in the middle of fixing it up and didn’t have a tree so I didn’t finish it. It’s 1/4” BB sealed with a couple coats of Danish Oil then 3 coats of semi-gloss poly. I’m OK with it but think It would’ve been better if I stained it first. The second one for their daughter is 1/2 inch oak, again sealed with Danish Oil then a few coats of semi-gloss poly. Luckily she has an easy name because the pattern is Baby’s First Christmas and I was easily able to cut and paste the A’s in the pattern for her name. My wife wanted me to paint it, I liked the oak grain but compromised with painting the bow and cap. I really like how that contrast turned out.

I was stack cutting 3 of these and that's when I lost Jesus, all of them. Later on a miracle happened and I found Jesus, all of them. Apparently, Jesus can fly.
