.....I come across another piece by scrollsaw goddess Fiona Kingdon on her Facebook page. All done in thick wood, layered, no pattern, she just starts cutting and waits to see what will come about with her single speed Hegner.This one is just stunning. And humbling.

Amazing work.

People who can "see" the art without a pattern amaze me, one (now ex) son in law drew cowboy cartoons, when I asked him how he did it, he said wasn't really an artist, he just traced what he saw in his mind.

Sometimes the question of art vs craft comes up, relative to scrollsawing.  I submit that Ms Kingdon is exhibit A for the artist side of that debate.

Same with people who do the chainsaw carvings.  I WISH I had that kind of talent!  I just trace a line with a blade that someone else drew.
