poupster2 Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Good day to all scrollers, I've been using my Dewalt for years and have been able to troubleshoot and repair it but this one is stomping me. The saw has been "not starting" when pressing the the foot switch. I know that the switch is working because my vacuum comes on also when pressing the foot switch. To get it to start again, I've moved the parallel arm a bit and it then starts but sometimes, all I have to do is release the foot switch and then try it again. Later when I stop, it might or might not start again. Its not constant. Did this ever happen to you? Any help would be greatly appreciated. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Take a look at the brushes on the motor. They may be worn down or you may have to just stretch the spring some to add pressure to them. Sounds like a dead spot on the motor. poupster2 and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

kmmcrafts Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Maybe mine needed more spring tension... but when it was cold out it would do that.. once it run for 2-3 minutes.. it was fine until I come in for lunch or something and leave it for an hour.. then it'd do it all over again.. I checked my brushes but they was like new still.. Just didn't like the cold... of coarse neither did I but.. Orders are orders... OCtoolguy 1 Quote

OCtoolguy Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 If you can start it by rotating the arms, I'd say that the brushes are the problem as others have stated. Time for a good cleaning and inspection. If you have a compressor, blow out the brush holes too. John B and GrampaJim 2 Quote
