Popular Post Ken O
I participated in the ornament exchange at work. Last minute thing for me this year. So I knocked this out last night. The lady its for likes gothic style stuff so I picked a picture off the internet and went to town. I'm not sure what wood this is. It's an orange/red color and pretty hard. About 3/4 inch thick, 6.5 inches long x 4 inches wide. Turned out good. Been a while since I've been on the saw, other projects are taking all my time. No clear, no stain, just a light sanding with 320 on the top and bottom. amazingkevin, jollyred, Dave Monk and 11 others
dgman
That’s a beauty for sure! She will definitely love it!
Jim McDonald
The patterns look like lacewood. Never worked it that thick--always 1/4" or less. It is hard, but beautiful when cut.
rjR
Very pretty! I am sure that it will be well liked.
Ken O
Thanks everyone! I think it's Paduk. It went over very well. She asked if I made it and I said "Yep, last night!" meflick

I used Leopard wood for the base of this clock. Edited December 20, 2019 by flarud Wilson142 and Dave Monk

Scrappile
That is a beautiful cross and the wood is perfect. Gives it an old rusty look to me. I agree with lace wood or leopard wood.
Denny Knappen
Very well done. I also think Lacewood. I used Lacewood on several intarsia projects.
Ken O
I need to get a picture of the scrap piece that's left. I'm 95% sure it's Paduk, not Lacewood. The piece is deceiving because there isn't much top grain to look at and the end grain looks exactly like the bottom 2 pictures in my example here of Paduk with the little holes/dots in the endgrain. BUT I am NOT an expert on some of these more exotic hardwoods so you may be correct. I am curious but it doesn't really matter, I'm happy with it, she loves it and it came out great other than the oops on the back that nobody needs to know about. hehe
