Paladin
I've found a set of files for purchase online that I am interested in trying to cut. Problem is - they come in .svg format. Searching on the internet it appears that I could convert these to .pdf files using inkscape? Not really familiar with inkscape (used it twice for the ornaments from here). Does anybody know if this can be done easily? Don't want to shell out a bunch of money for patterns and then have difficulties printing them out and using them. Thanks, Steve OCtoolguy
Fab4
Go with what Larry wrote, much simpler that what I tried to explain Fab4 Edited December 23, 2019 by Fab4 deleted original message, kinda didn't make sense OCtoolguy
JustLarry
I use Inkscape. Bring pattern to Inkscape. After size is what you want, select "save as" from File menu. Select file to save to. Name pattern, then from "Save as type" scroll down to "portable document format (*pdf)" and select save. John B
@JustLarry posted the method I use in Inkscape. I also make use of other free conversion programmes online such as https://svgtopng.com/ I prefer to have my files in png, jpg etc so I can drop them into MSWORD or Publisher and print out on the required paper size eg. A4 or A3 or multiple sheets. OCtoolguy and Fab4 1
jollyred
my computer is not hooked up to a printer, so I have to take my patterns from Inkscape to my wife's computer to print them. Since she does not have Inkscape on hers, I have to convert them to pdf and put on a flash drive to get them over to hers for printing. I usually use the print icon, then select print to pdf, and save them to the flash drive. If you have not used Inkscape before, be aware that there is a rectangle in the drawing which is what will be printed to the pdf. Anything outside of the rectangle will not be printed. The size of this rectangle is selected from the file drop down, then document properties. Tom OCtoolguy

BadBob
Inkscape is free open source software. https://inkscape.org. If you print patterns and you don't have this you need to install it learn to use it. Why anyone would want a pattern in a PDF or a bitmap format like jpg is beyond me. You can use Inkscape and svg to resize to any size you want and print sharp clear patterns no matter what size they are. You don't need to convert to another format to print them. Almost every new project I do starts with cleaning up the image and converting to svg. OCtoolguy
