Jim McDonald
Both of you need to listen to the medics and quit planning your departure. There is sawdust to be made! lawson56, OCtoolguy, meflick and 1 other 3

oldhudson
While spending Christmas in the hospital would bring no joy, but it sounds like you've turned a corner and are headed in the right direction. Thumbs up! lawson56 and OCtoolguy 1
Kepy
Haven't been here for a while but is good to see names that I recognize from the past. I'm sure that we all have a pattern file that is going to take a long time to complete, especially since it seems to keep growing. I once thought that my time was up but have decided that I have no control so will keep plugging along until someone who can make that decision decides. Instead of thinking that, I have now taken a new job and will be working the census so can support my habits (auctions and scrolling). Having my saw set up in the kitchen makes it easy to work on things. I can't work for long periods so it is very convenient to cut for a while and then take a break. lawson56 and OCtoolguy 1
meflick
Lawson, I am sorry you had to spend Christmas in the hospital, but at least it was discovered and you are finding the ways to improve the health concerns. I know it is life altering with the diet changes and such but diabetes can be controlled with effort. That is the good news. Prayers said for your health and for your wife. OCtoolguy
It's great that your doctor was on his toes. Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Just remember "nobody gets out alive" so make the best of the time you have. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life so get up and get going. Happy New Year to you Lawson. lawson56
wombatie
It happens to the best of us. 25 years for me and 22 years on insulin. Mine is hereditary, mum, myself and my 2 daughters. Second daughter got a double punch, diabetes and coeliac disease. All you can do is take a deep breath and get on with life, it's the only one we have. Listen to the experts Bobby and do what they say, stay strong. Marg lawson56, OCtoolguy and Be_O_Be

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that bread is pure dietary evil. Unfortunately, I love bread. So far no problems with glucose, but definitely need to drop some weight. Considered giving up bread, but I have a feeling that will be a non-starter for me. OCtoolguy and lawson56

Roberta Moreton
Cutting back on bread is good. Store bought bread especially. For anyone. OCtoolguy and lawson56
Rockytime
I have had diabetes well over 20 years and been on insulin most of those years. It is something you can live with. Have to admit I am not too careful what I eat but seem to get by. Stay away from starches is my best advise.
