new2woodwrk
I just got a new Guinever sander and am looking for suggestions/examples of how others have set up their dust and piece control. I'm thinking some kind of shroud around the 2 drum heads with screened dust ctrl hole in the back? Would love to see what others have done - pics are most welcome Thoughts? Thanks as always in advance OCtoolguy

Roberta Moreton
I bought the flex sander shroud that fixes to my dust collection. I don’t really use the other one. Remember, I am in the house. OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk
Rolf
This is what I have done. On my pneumatic drums and sanding mop. notice the minimal gap on top and open on the bottom. Sycamore67
I have built something very similar to Rolf for My pneumatic drum sanders. It works well but I have a strong dust collector and am pulling around 650-700 cfm thru it. For somethings like sanding on the lathe or drill press, I have tried using a bell mouth hood on the end of the dust collection hose. It seems to work much more effectively than just the end of a hose. I read about it on the Australian forum woodworkforums.com Edited January 10, 2020 by Sycamore67 new2woodwrk, GrampaJim, Rolf and 1 other 3
Rolf
I have my system connected to A JET Vortex 1100 VX. It is a Cyclone wanabe, that is surprisingly effective, with a 2 micron cartridge filter that is the original. I bought it in Dec 2011. It has had a lot of chips and dust go through it. especially fine dust when doing Intarsia. 4"pvc pipe, longest run ~30 ft. and 4 elbows and a 2" reducer to my bench top router at the end of the run, still lots of suction. new2woodwrk, GrampaJim and OCtoolguy 2
Puzzleguy
I basically cover my suction unit with an old woven onion bag ( from an old bag of onions ) which catches any loose parts from going up the line to the collector. loose one part of a large design and it pretty much ruins your day -makes the whole thing junk. 2 hours down the drain ( or worse ) The shrouds you guys have around your sanders are pretty neat - mine i just pull behind the unit Edited January 13, 2020 by Puzzleguy new2woodwrk, OCtoolguy and Rolf
