Some great tips ! thank you one and all - your all super .

would love to buy 5' x 5' sheets - would get more use of it that way -thou nothing in my neck of the woods -

My guess to get 5' x 5' sheets would be very costly for handling etc -so ill rethink my sizes and do the number thing .

i appreciate all the kindness and help , thank you !

look for a hard wood dealer . I have a paxton wood which deals in hardwood and i bought a 5X5 1/8 BB ply for $17.84 including tax. That is $0.71 pe Sq. ft.

There is a Frank Paxton in Denver. Since it is located 45 minutes through traffic I hesitate to drive there due to old age. I can but don't like to. So before I make the trip can you tell me if they cut down the 5 foot piece? If not how do you transport it? I do not have a pickup any longer and it will not fit my Durango. I could have my wife drive but she likes to put the pedal to the metal and makes my knuckles turn white!

Why not call and ask ? The one in Cincinnati will make cuts for you.

I guess my wife could call but I am so deaf I cannot use a phone. My wife usually accompanies me wherever I go to communicate for me. But thank you. You did answer my question. If they cut in Cincinnati I'm sure they do in Denver.

I have purchased from Anderson Plywood in Anaheim, Ca. and they cut it for me to put in my little Scion XB when I had it. They are a great company and the owner is a Vet with a small museum in his place of business. Anyone who actually visits there will be given the tour if they ask.

Puzzle do you get up to Buffalo much?  Searching the web I see several lumber suppliers who would likely have it.  Mosher and Advantage.  My supplier is 2 hours away.  I combine me trip there with other errands in that direction and I usually pick up 5 or 6 sheets.  Enough  to last me a year or more.

BTW my wife went to SUNY Fredonia so I have been there.  Nice area except for during the winter.

I get mine from lljohnsons Workbench in Charlotte MI. I could go to South Bend IN same distance either way but a nicer drive to Charlotte. The Baltic Birch is: 1/8" $9.11, 1/4" $15.95 and they cut the 5x5 plywood down for me. It is a 90 mile drive either way. So when I go my list is long because I get band saw blades, stain, finish exotic wood, and domestic hardwood.

Thanks for the tip ! appreciate very much - I see it on places like Amazon , but im not sure about which direction the grain is

on various odd sizes , and if i could buy it in 5' x 5' sheets Their would be little waste - probably use 1/2 as much -

plus I may need some for displays - been using a light colored mahogany lu-anne, but recently been only able to find the darker

underlay stuff ( not as nice )

By the way thanks for the nice things you said about Fredonia - were so close to Lake Erie that we dont get as much snow as some people -

but the winds here can be something else - our college is outstanding , they have world class music performers their all the time

sometimes for free !
