I'm going through that dilemma now acrylic craft paint- 3 lite coats with a lite sanding between coats and then 1 coat of clear spray paint to add the gloss. No issues with fitting This was painted Baltic Birch plywood. I have 3 more puzzles cut out on poplar and will use dyes to color them. Brian Thanks @Bpardue Any particular reason you use dyes on the poplar? What type and brand of dyes do you use if I may ask.
