mikesscrollsaw Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I sanded and sanded till it was perfect, then started putting tung oil on it, and then it happened, it slipped out of my hand and hit the floor! Man was I mad!! but I've glued it all back together and after some sanding tomorrow I don't think you'll ever be able to tell where it was broke. Luckily the breaks were clean. Quote
wombatie Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Hope it all works out well tomorrow, fingers crossed for you. Marg Quote
elum Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I feel your pain, I am about half way done with making the same bowl. Glad to hear you were able to salvage it. Looks good. Quote
Clayton717 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 looks good, I hope you can fix it. Quote
mikesscrollsaw Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 well it's all back together, after I got home from work today I sanded it down and re did the finish now it's drying. looks good as new. I can only see 3 of the breaks so it's not too bad. I guess I better learn to be more careful it's a great project though. I think one of my favorites Quote
Messman Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 That does look like a great peice to do, but I know I had better not try it. If I did I know I would break it and I would not be able to glue it back together again. Can't wait to see the finished peice. Quote
Radh1 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Geeeez,That stinks.I dont know if I will be able to take that "if" and WHEN something like that happens to me.(Fairly new to Scroll sawing). Quote
mikesscrollsaw Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 well here is it all together....... here is a close of the only visible breaks. The other's broke right at the glue spot so you don't notice them. the breaks on the top ring are totally hidden. I was pretty discouraged when it broke but now that it's all fixed i'm happy again.
