Badgerboy
Based on the shared wisdom here on SSV I purchased a telescopic LED light with 1.5 diopeter and the Seyco dust collector. They both arrived this week so I stopped cutting for a while today (hated that) and put everything in place. The light and magnifier is awesome! The dust collection is a wonderful addition. Thanks to all the guys and gals here who share their opinions and wisdom. meflick, Rolf, new2woodwrk and 2 others 4
kmmcrafts
Very nice set-up I'd like to hear your thoughts on the two additions to your saw after you get some hours on them.. I'm going to need a new magnifier light soon as my original one that I bought 18 years ago is getting worn out.. it won't hold it's position very well no matter how tight I tighten the pinch bolts to hold it.. it still will move on it's own.. I've even took the screw out and made a small piece of sandpaper as to give it some friction to stay put.. helped for a short time.. Also like that dust collection system and have been tempted for about 2 years now to take the plunge to buy that same set up... What's been holding me back from that lately is I read from someone in the know.. that Pegas is working on designing both a dust collection system and a larger table for the saws.. SO.. I've been kinda watching out for this.. Then I might take the plunge for a new saw and dust collection system all at one time.. Edit to add: Where did you get the Magnifier light? dgman
Man, that’s a good looking saw! One concern I have about your setup is you need to have a vacuum port on the top end also. Not necessarily to keep the top clean but to capture as much of the airborne dust as possible. new2woodwrk, OCtoolguy, kmmcrafts and 2 others 4
Denny Knappen
Hi Todd. That is a great set up. My only concern for the Seyco is no top pick up. OCtoolguy

Kevin, I have actually been using the light for a week now and just love it. I bought off amazon for $45. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MYHYPQ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 OCtoolguy, BadBob and kmmcrafts 1
Badgerboy
Denny and dgman, I completely agree with need a top-side dust collection and have a few mod ideas for the Seyco. When I make them and they work I will post pictures. I did have to mod my saws table to add a cross brace to mount the seyco as I have my light on the top frame bar but that took 5 minutes. Denny, do you think the Seyco dust collector vacuum has enough suction that one could put a T manifold type thing on it to make a upper collection added to what they have set up? I'm just curious.. I wonder why Ray never designed it to have a upper collection port.. other than when this came out there was no other type of systems and not much research done.. Yes, I think the system is strong enough for a T manifold, but would it restrict upper arm movement. OCtoolguy

On the Pegas and some other saws, the unit tilts rather than the table. I was referring to restricting when tilting the head. JimErn
62db is low for a vacuum, best I have seen is 63 and that is a hotel commercial grade, big bucks. normal conversation is 60 db My big concern with a vacuum, is that I would want it to turn on and off with the saw, I know how to do that, but the start and stop cycle is not something a vacuum motor is designed for OCtoolguy and kmmcrafts
teachnlearn
Jim since you have done electronics, buy a vac with a motor like grizzly or whatever and change the motor to an industrial motor. RJF OCtoolguy

My Fein has a two poistion switch that allows either manual or auto configuration. When I step on the go pedal, the saw comes on as well as the vac. When I step off the go pedal, the saw stops instantly but the vac continues to run to clear the hose and it shuts off about 10 seconds or so later. It was designed to run that way. So far, so good. Fein and Fesstool, good to know, pricey though, thanks Ray do you know the db of the fein or fesstool when it is on? and if so how far from it are you when measuring? there are a lot of db meters as apps for the smart phone if you need one.I use one called "Sound Meter" OCtoolguy
teachnlearn
Sound exponentially decreases with distance. There are a lot of specs that state the sound measurement, but not the distance. So one person measures it 1 inch from the vacuum, another measures it from where they sit with the scroll saw and its 20 feet away. There are sites and companies that deal completely with sound deadening materials.. A decent enclosure and sound damping materials is going have great improvement on a quiet or loud vac. It's one of the older models that seem to be preferred over the newer offerings. Festool is waaaaaaaaaaaay out of my budget at this point in my life. I'll try to get some info for you. I have that same app on my phone. We live under a flight path into Long Beach and LAX and I got to measuring the over head noise prior to submitting my complaint. It seems that I wasn't the only person and now they have been a bit quieter. I'm not one of those folks who move under a flight path and then start complaining. We were aware of what we were doing. But in the 9 years we've lived here the noise and air traffic have been shifted from other more affluent areas and it gets really bad during the summer months when we are outdoors more. Badgerboy
I always have music on in my shop and the addition of the seyco dust collector did cause me to turn the tunes up a small bit but not bad. It definitely is nowhere near my tablesaw, bandsaw etc which cause me to wear ear muffs when running. OCtoolguy
