To my knowledge they no longer sell saws from their website.. You have to call to order one, they run batches of them ( I think ).. I just talked to them a couple weeks ago about buying a new 20" saw and they said it might be a while before they run a batch of those.. as the 26" is the most popular one.

Customer service has improved a great deal but still not perfect, LOL

Parts from the website is now updated so if something is out of stock they don't have a add to shopping cart option if it's out of stock.. so you cannot buy parts and be charged while waiting several months for the part. That said... it's still several months if they are in fact out of stock.. BUT they seem to be "trying"  to keep an inventory of parts now... where I don't think they used to do that.

I personally wouldn't hesitate to buy another saw from them.. just know up front that it may take some time for parts and to receive a new saw.

As for ordering stocked items from the website... I've ordered blades from them and some saw parts early spring and again just a couple weeks ago I purchased some thumb screws and blades.. in both cases my orders came in the mail within 3-4 days..

I suggest anyone buying / owning a Hawk saw to stock up on normal wear parts.. otherwise you could be waiting a month or more for parts that they don't have in stock.. I normally do this with my other brands of saws anyway so I'm not waiting on the mail to deliver my parts.. kinda smart for a small craft business to not have down time waiting on parts.. so my Excalibur and other saws have parts on hand that are normal wear items.. ie blade screws / chucks and tension cam and set screws etc..

Kevin and Ray

I appreciate the honest input.

I will keep you posted

Thank you

Mark, let me start by saying, I very seldom buy anything brand new. It's because I'm old. Why do I need anything NEW? So, with that said, if you really want to buy an RBI Hawk, keep your eyes open for a good used one. Do your homework and learn what constitutes a good one and what is a bad one. There are a ton of things to know about Hawks. How they have changed over the years is amazing. I am in a very high population area and there are always a lot of Hawks for sale on Craigslist and Marketplace. I have my choice of what I want. The only Hawk I have purchased was a fairly new (2010) 226 Ultra with all the latestest stuff except for the aggression adjustment on the lower arm. My point is I only paid $250 for it and it was in amazingly clean condition having less than 20 hours on it. After bringing it home and putting it in my very small shop, I decided it was just too big. I really did like it for the short time I had it but it had to go. If I ever have a larger shop, I'll consider another one. I also am keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a 220. At some point I may end up with one. That 6 inches makes huge difference in how much floor space it takes up when you think of the splay of the 4 legs. Anyway, just thought I'd toss that out for you to think about. There are so many deals out there, why spend all that money for a new one if you don't have to?

Thank everyone for the response.

Ray your post is very insightful as I too am old, half a century  two lustrums( Rooster Cogburn fan) and four years.

On things where I can afford them  I prefer new. With that I went and ordered the BM-20 and a few parts that see wear and tear such as the wedge pivot and nylon washer.

I added the Performance package which includes  Accessory Table, Mag Light,  Foot Switch, and (2) Lower blade holders. The customer service was excellent. I sent an email Wednesday morning and had a response within a couple hours. Did the same thing in the afternoon had a response Thursday am. Called Thursday afternoon got right thru to Hope a very knowledgeable lady. She had no trouble with my questions or finding part numbers. Half and hour latter my Hawk is ordered.  Delivery should be 4 weeks according to BN. I know that the way things are now (completely 7 letters) that it takes time.

Overall I am pleased with my Bushton  Manufacturing experience.

Thank you

Mark

Congrats to getting a new Hawk!! The issue with buying a used Hawk is.. you don't see too many BM series.. especially in the 20" saw.. and I don't think they ever made a G4 in a 20" saw so you'd be stuck with a Ultra saw or older which lack many of the new and much more user friendly features that those older saws don't have and can't upgrade to. Those older saws are nice saws.. but the newest BM series outperforms those older saws by a long shot.. I wish they made a smaller saw like a 16".. I'd be ordering one today if they had such a thing..

Also glad you had a positive experience so far.. I hope they continue with that.. Some of their older issues was a couple employees not really doing their job.. Now that they are gone and some new help has been hired.. they've been better..

you will like the new saw. i was fortunate enough to buy a used  BM-20 model with less than 10 hours on it. huge difference from my type 1 dewalt. if properly leveled you can do the nickel test! as long as you do the suggested maintenance on the saw it will last a long time. the only thing i had a difficult time with was the blade clamp screw. total different set up than the dewalt type saws. i would not trade my saw for anything.

They are great saws, and with all these other saws keep raising their prices it's making a Hawk look more desirable.. that is until Hawk raises their prices.. Funny but, back in the 90's they was $1000 for a 20" saw.. they've improved it greatly since then and only have increased the price by $200 in 30 years.

looking on bushton website they have lowered the price by $25 on each saw. the bm20 was 1200  last time i looked and is now 1175. most companies are raising the price. just looked at laguna bandsaw  model 1412 and they want $1599 when they were $1079 about a year ago! would like to have a bigger better saw for resawing but not for $1599 plus tax! i will end up buying a used bandsaw one of these days. just have to wait and find the right deal.

Still cost more though I believe to the end consumer anyway.. as they raise the shipping cost from $150  to $200..  ( I had heard... not confirmed ) probably because of shippers raising prices as they have skyrocketed shipping cost in the last couple years.
