The fires are now under control.  They may flare up again because we still have 2 months of summer/fire season left.  We had 2 days of rain/ hail and electrical storms, lots of areas were flooded.
Here are some stats., from the newspaper.

New South Wales;   Deaths 21  Houses/ Property Destroyed 2305  Hectares Burned 5.2million
Victoria;  Deaths 5  Houses/Property Destroyed 387  Hectares Burned 105million
Millions of wildlife killed along with farm animals.
There were also huge fires in Queensland and South Australia.

Didn't I see a picture on a news site, where the fires were under control, now it is flooding, showed a picture of a shark swimming down a street!!!  And I have always wanted to visit Australia..... may have to rethink that....

Scroll down the page a little to see the shark

I am sorry for the loss of life, human and animals, and the destruction of homes and land. Having had my family home burn and be totaled when I was in college, I understand how that loss feels. Good to hear the fires are now under control and will continue to say prayers for them to be completely extinguished and for recovery. Sad to know that many fires were started by people.

If you click on the link that Paul put on about a quarter of the way down is a map, on the left side in bright yellow you will see an island in the middle of the bay, it's called French Island the on way on to it is be ferry, well on Saturday they had a bush fire an it burned over 150 hectares.  There are over 3000 koalas on that island used for breeding because they have no diseases, luckily only a few were lost.  If you get your magnifying glasses out you will notice that on the main land the island is off Hastings where I live, there were LOTS of water bombers going over and very low too.

I am sorry to say that 3 American's who came over here to help with the fires died yesterday when their plane went down in New South Wales after 5 flights with a water bomber.  They are heroes.  😥

Oh My Goodness, how sad. Heroes indeed.  Such caring souls and such a tragic end.  RIP.
