heppnerguy
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP. I WAS DOING ALL THE THINGS SUGGESTED, OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND NOTHING WORKED. HOWEVER i USED THE LINK FAB 4 SENT AND IT WORKED. NO IDEA WHY, BUT IT WORKED. In the past I have downloaded a lot of different free fonts from Dafont.com and I have never come across a problem but now, all of a sudden there seems to be something I have forgotten or there are some different things added that I do not understand. Here is my problem. I have a different computer and have found that when i need a new font added to Inkscape it somehow does not get there. It does download and comes onto my list of fonts that I have for my 'word' but does not show in my options for Inkscape. Can someone please help me to getting my fonts to show in Inkscape? I am trying to get the font, 'birds of paradise' on my inkscape for my word plaques. I watched youtube and tried what I saw there but it still does not show up. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated Dick heppnerguy Edited February 29, 2020 by heppnerguy Fab4 and OCtoolguy 1

WayneMahler
I had this issue too. What I do now it open the font. On the (name).ttf I place my mouse cursor over it. Then I right click and select install for all. This works for me. Hope this helps you guys out also. This should work for any font file, not just the true type fonts. I used that as an easy example. don in brooklin on
This has been discussed a few times here. When you download a font. Save to a folder on your computer. (I made a new folder called Fonts in my Scrool patterns font) Most fonts come in a zip file. Find downloaded font and click on it. You must extract to disk. It will create a new folder. Go to that folder and right click on font. Must install FOR ALL USERS. Open Inkscape and see if there. If not restart computer and try again. Not there cry a bit. Fab4
Hi Dick: Let's try this, Not sure if it will work but we have nothing to lose here is the font that I copied from my font folder See if you can copy this one If this does not work, then I agree with Don's advice - If it's not there, cry a bit Just so you know, with the newer system I have, I had to cry a time or two....LOL Fab4 BIRDS OF PARADISE.TTF Edited February 27, 2020 by Fab4 OCtoolguy and Tomanydogs 1

OCtoolguy
If I recall this topic came up before. I had to give it a try. I downloaded the font file, extracted it to my desktop, right clicked it and clicked on install for all users. I opened Inkscape but it wasn't there. I closed Inkscape and then reopened it and it magically appeared. My story and I'm sticking to it.

teachnlearn
There are versions of all software programs. One thing that changes in this thread with everyone, is what version of Inkscape they have. So depending on the version/ sub version fix or bug. Different people may experience different problems with the same software. At times it can come down to looking at support sites or writing the companies or forums and see if there is a bug or update or version that has the problem. Many times when they update to the newest version, they can create bugs from the new features or changes. So its a ongoing chase to make new features, while chasing old bugs or new ones created. OCtoolguy
I'm running ver. 0.92. I looked for a place to check for updates but couldn't find one. Edit: I just downloaded 0.92.4. I guess that's the newest one. Edited March 10, 2020 by octoolguy
teachnlearn
I searched support and got a general page. Community forums or support from the programs here would be a source. RJF https://inkscape.org/community/ OCtoolguy
