Already has the casters on it and with the 20 foot hose I have I can roll it anywhere in the shop. I am using the DD. So if your vac ever dies it has another use. Not sure I understand what you are describing. Can yo post pictures? OCtoolguy
amazingkevin
I run into cheap thin buckets and good one for the big box store(orange ones) are thinner than white ones! OCtoolguy

Scrappile
I was in a Ranch and Home store (I love Ranch and Home but it is local) looking for something I could not find, they let me down, but I did for kicks buy a 3/4" PVC valve and a "T" for less than $3. I hooked it inline with my dust collection and the results were a little surprising to me. With it almost wide open the bucket so far is not collapsing. But more surprising, the air noise is no louder that I can notice, and the suction at the scroll saw does not seem to be reduced any, that I can tell... Not sure why I added that little section of PVC pipe coming out of the valve..... it must be serving some purpose...... stevan
So I did a little experiment with the two bucket system. Using the Lowe's bucket as the collection bucket, I place said Lowe's bucket in another bucket (like a 5 gallon paint bucket) and the Lowe's bucket no longer collapses. YMMV but this is working for me right now and my vacuum is just an old repurposed Hoover upright so no Major suction value. Does anything change? Scrappile

Well the bucket will start collapsing. But I really thought with this valve open, I would loose my dust collecting, but does not appear to be the case... Okay, BUT, if the bucket is in side a bucket,,,,, how do you know it is not collapsing....? My real fear is not the bucket collapsing, but what it may or may not be doing to my dust extractor (vacuum). I do not know. Just wondering if it could be so plugged up that it's causing excess vacuum to be sucking the sides of the bucket in. By putting that valve in the circuit, you are providing some relief to the whole system.

Try running the system without the bag in the vac just for giggles. It might be plugged up from very fine dust that can't be seen. Or maybe the bag is just bad. Give it a try and see what happens. I watched a whole mess of videos on building dust collectors last summer and built one very similar to this from a piece of either 6" or 8" pvc sewer pipe. Mine was a little different as I used the pipe itself as the collection pail and included a filter in it. It works, but it doesn't separate the fine scroll saw dust as well as I would like. In fact, a lot of the big dust would end up in the filter too. Its something I need to revisit I think. OCtoolguy
Rolf
My first thought would be to put a "bleeder" valve in the vacuum line between the dust deputy and the vac. keep opening that until the bucket stops collapsing and you still get enough suction where you need it. Scrappile
I scrolled for around two hours last evening with the valve open, no bucket collapse and every thing else seemed to work fine.. This is with the DustStopper on. Today I will put the DustDeputy back on and see what happens..
