Terry and I spent a marvelous 2.5 - 3 hours along with 18 other people with Kathy Wise yesterday.  The first half was a slide show of her work starting with the clay animals she made at school.  The second half of the morning she cut and shaped a Platypus (an Australian animal) From picking the wood to gluing it together, very informative.  We thoroughly enjoyed it and so did.  It also helped a lot.

Ya, I wish they have similar events near to me...Looks like fun.

Paul, over the years, since I've been interested in woodworking, woodcarving, and scrolling, I've notice that all the schools and shows seem to be East of the Mississippi. Not sure why. Nothing ever on the Western side.

If you look at even the map of members on here, the east of the Miss. out number the scrollers here on the West 10 to 1,  maybe more and it is almost the same for all wood working.  Been that way as long as I can remember.

Maybe it's because they have so many months of crappy weather so they stay indoors a lot more that us "Westerners" do.

Was she at a show or you pay to go to her shop?

She came to Australia and did talks and demonstrations, it was all free but she sold books and raffle tickets for one of three Australian animal intarsia's that she had made.  One of the intarsia's was a Koala and all the money for that raffle went to the Koala Rescue center.
