Branding Iron

I have always put stickers on all my projects. Decided that they might look a bit more professional with a brand. Things that I would oil and bees wax the stickers would not stay on.  Found this iron on Etsy for about $80 including tax and shipping. Took close to a month to get because it came from China. I sure am pleased with it. https://www.etsy.com/listing/622156958/150w-300w-electric-power-iron-wooden-or?ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1

Does look good.

I paid about that much and mine I have to heat with a torch!  I have to experiment with it every time I use it to get the right temp.  I finally, one day, branded a piece of veneer about 10 times and then cut the veneer nicely on pieces.  I epoxy the branded veneer on to the project some where.

Looks great Dave.

is the iron thermostatically controlled so you can leave it plugged in and it won't get too hot?

How many practice runs did it take to learn how long to hold the iron on the wood?  I imagine each species of wood may be different, softer wood vs harder wood - true?

Jim, Can't answer you on thermostat. Species of wood definitely makes a difference. Soft burns faster.  Hard to hold it straight and get a perfect brand.

Looks like a good deal, Dave,
My daughter bought me one for Christmas and I am sure she paid way too much because
I looked some up from the manufacturer.
I have the same problem as Scrappile in having to experiment with the temperature and then I
have to carefully rock the stamp slightly side to side and front to back to make sure it really does
burn the entire text.

Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
