new2woodwrk
Made these 2 from odds and ends I've cut over the past several years. Now that the shop is getting re-organized, I found the pieces laying in a bin on a shelf. The frames are home made, the stain is red mahogany, the backing is 1/8" bb stained with combo of red sedona and gun stock Bless this house: The Light on the Mount Thanks in advance as always for reading stoney, Lucky2, jollyred and 5 others

RabidAlien
Nice!! I love the frame-within-a-frame look!! I'm assuming that the outer frame is deeper than the inner frame, creating the bezel or ledge for the project to sit on, instead of trying to math it out with a table saw or router? Regardless, I'd probably do two different shades of stain so that the pieces stand out against each other, but that's just my preference. new2woodwrk
Lucky2
I like how you make your frames, they're like a frame within a frame, I must try that some time. Isn't there only supposed to be three crosses in the scene of the Crucifixion, that's all I've ever seen in pics of it in bibles and other places. Trying to not get to religious here, but Jesus was crucified between two thieves. Len new2woodwrk

Yes, while I can make frames to size, I prefer to make frames a generic size and cut the backing to fit. Much easier that way for me, but not a game changer either. I have done a few with stain shades - looks ok for the most part, guess I've just not found a combination that really blows my skirt up yet RabidAlien

Len Thanks - it's my understanding (I'm not a religious scholar) that while "Jesus may have been crucified between two thieves." there were additional crucifixes lined up in the vicinity as it was a common Roman punishment: For me it's a matter of Artistic License as opposed to historic or religious accuracy Edited March 17, 2020 by new2woodwrk Lucky2

Len Nah, no worries Len! I appreciate your pointing out the inaccuracy and the comment. Not being of that faith I wouldn't have known if you hadn't pointed it out. Interesting thought. The wife actually put these together and she is of that faith and should have known LOL. Now we have something else we can disagree on for the next few days LMAO!
