TommyT1963
Man that looks familiar. My dad always had me stand to the side when cutting, never had a problem till a month ago, glad I did not get complacent and remembered his lesson OCtoolguy
JimErn
or the basic version (I use this one and find it is fine for what I do) https://smile.amazon.com/GRR-RIP-BLOCK-Pushblock-Router-Jointer/dp/B00DNX3N7S/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=woodworking+gripper&qid=1584788544&sr=8-7 Things like this are perfect when you have a b-day, anniversary, etc etc coming up Edited March 21, 2020 by JimErn OCtoolguy
Birchbark
A feather board clamped to the fence takes only seconds to set up, can be made from a piece of scrap, held in place with a C clamp and won't allow the board to climb over the blade. If you like the ease of it all, you can buy a 'nice' plastic one. Russell OCtoolguy and dgman 1
Sycamore67
All the suggestions are good.....anything to be safer. You need to keep the board from shooting back and keep it from climbing over the back edge of the blade. I use the Gripper for two reasons. One is that it controls smaller pieces very well. The second is that you can adjust the handle to make it more ergonomic. I have worn out wrist joints which are painful and the Gripper makes things easier. dgman, OCtoolguy and Scrappile 2
Scrappile
I have two Grippers, use them a lot. Only thing I don't like about them, is the stabilizing foot is always on the wrong side every time I want to use one or both..... always... and I have to move it to the other side.... I don't understand how that happens! OCtoolguy
Mabel H.
This is one reason why I use my bandsaw, and jointer over the table saw, not as messy either. OCtoolguy
Rolf
Trackman you got lucky this time. We all know better but it is that "quicky" that gets us every time. I cut a lot of the 1/16 (1.5mm) ply for my ornaments into squares. The problem is that occasionally it slips under my fence and it has nailed me. I will make a sled for this in the future. In the mean time I bought a pair of the Grippers at a show years ago. They are priceless!. I very rarely use a push stick anymore. The gripper has thumb screws so it takes no time to change the setting. but having two I rarely have to. I use them on my jointer, router table band saw etc. Sycamore67 and OCtoolguy 1
