Popular Post OLScroler Posted March 19, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted March 19, 2020 Im Chris and reside in Lawrenceville Ga. I've been scrolling for some 20 years or so, started out by trading a large compressor for a scroll saw. RBI Hawk 20 inch, you know the one that had allen screws on the top and bottom blade clamps with the adjusting tensioning leaver at the back. Sense then I've added a Excalibur also the other day a 26 inch Hawk, needs a little attention though. Have cut a fair amount of stuff but pretty much give most of it as gifts or if someone appreciates it away it goes, also as Sunday School white elephant gifts sure is a lot of fun watching those folks fight over something you can always cut another one. Don't get me wrong Im not the best around but its therapy, just me and my saw. Well its off to planing or cutting. Looking forward to meeting y'all and picking up tips as well. Will I better get to it, Figure if I don't have any cuts around then its time to build/cut something else. ChelCass, wombatie, Wichman and 7 others 9 1 Quote

rafairchild2 Posted November 30, 2024 Report Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Welcome from VA Beach VA. edit... Oh my, didn't realize this was from 4 years ago!!! You certainly are an "Old Hand" at the craft. I look forward to seeing what other works and advise you bring, and hope we can do the same for you. Although I do worry about those heavy chains on the drill press! Is there something you want to share with the class? Like you I am getting ready for retirement, but made the decision a few weeks ago, to work at NATO for 2025 and then decide at the end of the year if I want to go another year. I like what I do, who I do it with and the money. It keeps me busy and is only 8 mile commute. It gives me structure and purpose. Edited November 30, 2024 by rafairchild2 OCtoolguy 1 Quote
ChelCass Posted November 30, 2024 Report Posted November 30, 2024 Welcome back, sorry to hear about your parents. Lots of new folks joined and a lot of the oldsters still here. Lots of new patterns to check out. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OLScroler Posted November 30, 2024 Author Report Posted November 30, 2024 Thanks for the replys and just ordered a pin nailer with 3/8 inch pins. Have been using 1/8 inch baltic birch for Christmas ornaments. I like to cut multiple peices of this plywood and have been using two sided carpet tape but sometimes it wants to stick to me more than the wood. I just used the last of a stick and release tape from the Winfield Collection and they still have this product I have been using this to adhere patterns to the wood, but I am going to look for an alternative due to the price tag. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Not sure how to turn the picture still learning. Have a Great Weekend!!!!!! OCtoolguy, JackJones and ChelCass 3 Quote
