Lisatx75 Posted March 21, 2020 Report Posted March 21, 2020 Hi, I was given a piece of grandillo and am looking for suggestions. I also have some purple heart. All I really know is they are pretty and hardwoods. I'm attaching pictures of the pieces. jollyred and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
trackman Posted March 21, 2020 Report Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) I think what you have is Garapa. Were I get my lumber they can’t get yellow heart anymore. So I have been using garapa in its place. Both are very hard and make good accent woods when used with other woods. Be sure to wear a mask when cutting. The Purple Heart will darken with age. Grandillo is more of a red color I think but I have been known to be wrong, ask my wife! Edited March 21, 2020 by trackman scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

Lisatx75 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Report Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks so much for the information! Grandillo is what the sticker said and I had never heard of it (just started scrolling in January). Just saw how expensive it was and don't want to mess it up too bad lol scrollingforsanity 1 Quote
trackman Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 If you google Grandillo wood you will see that what you have isn’t grandillo. Quote
