My first thought when he showed those sheets he glued up was plywood.. but it was just a sheet of glued sticks.. crazy talent there.. I would thing a match manufacturer would want to purchase one of his items and display it in their office. Have you gone there and seen it in person? Beautiful and the detail. Anyone can make perfect things with a laser but only a dedicated person can make beautiful things by hand. If it was all about selling things for the money, then who cares. I don't do craft shows because, for me, it looses the feeling of gratification when I am asked to make something for someone, because they have seen what I have made and would like to have one for themselves or a friend.
