Blade Question

Had a question about a new blade. I bought my DeWalt 788 4 years ago and the blade that came with it worked great for a while but it seems to be going dull because I'm really having to push or slow down to get it to cut. I've cut about 3,000 of these puzzles. Is it time for me to buy a new blade? If one lasted me 4 years, why would I buy an entire dozen? Do people go in together and buy a pack and split them up? Thanks.

I guess it all depends on what your cutting and the size of the blade your using. For me personally blade life depends on a lot of factors, wood being cut, thickness of the wood, size of the blade, speed of the saw, the tension of the blade, and.

If you find yourself having to "push" harder than usual then it's time to change the blade, I will say I find it amazing that your blade lasted as long as it did. I buy my blades by the gross because if I'm cutting hardwood it's not uncommon for me to go thru several blades on a project.

So I guess the best answer would be if you find yourself "pushing" harder than you feel is necessary it's time to change the blade.

Good luck, the puzzle looks great!

I guess you will be able to go 48 years until you buy another new blade. My blades don't last that long because I don't really cut enough to be good at it. Your blade must have been made from titanium I think Dewalt quit using titanium for blades 3 1/2 years ago.
