rash_powder Posted April 6, 2020 Report Posted April 6, 2020 I have been noticing while cutting 3/4” poplar, that regardless of the blade I choose a cutting across the grain is SO much easier than cutting with the grain. is there a reason for this or have I a technique problem? scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
dgman Posted April 6, 2020 Report Posted April 6, 2020 Yes, you are correct. Most scroll saw blades are configured more like a cross cut blade than a ripping blade. It’s not just poplar, you will notice it on most hardwoods. It really should have no effect on your cutting other than the blade working a little harder cutting with the grain. jollyred, OCtoolguy, stoney and 2 others 4 1 Quote
fredfret Posted April 6, 2020 Report Posted April 6, 2020 Cutting wood is like cutting meat easy across the grain harder along the grain. scrollingforsanity, new2woodwrk, OCtoolguy and 1 other 4 Quote
