rash_powder
I have been noticing while cutting 3/4” poplar, that regardless of the blade I choose a cutting across the grain is SO much easier than cutting with the grain. is there a reason for this or have I a technique problem? scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy
dgman
Yes, you are correct. Most scroll saw blades are configured more like a cross cut blade than a ripping blade. It’s not just poplar, you will notice it on most hardwoods. It really should have no effect on your cutting other than the blade working a little harder cutting with the grain. scrollingforsanity, OCtoolguy, jollyred and 2 others 4
fredfret
Cutting wood is like cutting meat easy across the grain harder along the grain. stoney, scrollingforsanity, OCtoolguy and 1 other
