Popular Post baggetta
"Cannon to the right of them Cannon to the left of them Cannon in front of them Volleyed and thundered; Stormed at with shot and shell...." Every school child was bombarded with these poetry lines by Tennyson in school. The power of the military cannon was most important in war times past. Thought I would try to replicate a model of the old war cannons -- or at least come close. Here's my stab at it. I cut the cannon itself from a piece of 2 x 4 cut to size so that I could do a compound cut using my scroll saw. The wheels were also cut on the scroll saw and attached with a dowel to a platform, to which the cannon is glued. Well I won't go into detail, because it's all in the free pattern sheets. amazingkevin, frankorona, jollyred and 8 others

heppnerguy
What a great little piece. I love that era of time and the way they fought battles. It all seems so strange to look back on their methods of fighting. Dick heppnerguy danny

Dragonkort
that is just great!!! I cant wait to make it!!! like I said I love doing compound cutting lol....thank you so much for the pattern!!! hum I have a patter for a civel war chess set from one of my scroll saw magazens… there made of dowls… wounder if I could use your cannon as an accent piece? no that wouldn't work lol asides from t he pieces and the board where the heak would you put the cannor?? dosnt matter most of my compound cut patterns are just for me anyway. inless I made a box for the pieces and put the cannon on the top as sort of a handle for taking the top of the box? if I did that would you allow me to use your cannon for sets I sell? if not that's fine i'll just make one for me. lol im going to have to fi nd someplace else to put the stuff im going to keep lol

Maybe you could add a tall pedestal to the center of the board and put the cannon on top. In any event, enjoy your work and stay safe.
