Between making saw dust I have been fulfilling another bucket list item. My workshop is full of the tools that I wanted and needed. So the profits from my sales had nowhere to go but burn out the bottom of my pockets. After 49 years of owning my Brit sorts car (TVR) It was time to get the motor tweaked. Completely rebuilt and properly tuned on a Dyno. All I need to do is bolt it back in after I clean up the engine bay and chassis. Went from about 90 HP to 148 HP in a 1700 pound car, should be fun. It is a 4 cylinder Ford 1.6 Liter now 1.7 Liter. The motor is hanging in my garage while I wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can work on it outside, some wiring to do and my garage is too narrow for me to work around the car. It had been purchased by another GI and built for export to the US so it was already left hand drive. It was last restored by me in 1998. I love the picture with my Jeep as it gives scale. Both pictures were taken in 2 years ago. Getting in and out is always fun. The thing that triggered this project was After all these years the cork gaskets were seeping everywhere. So I needed to pull the motor anyway and re-gasket it. I was planning to do it my self but decided it was now or never to do something like this. Time will tell if it was worth it. Lots of details I was not expecting. Rolf Posted April 23, 2020 Author Report Share Posted April 23, 2020 I have done three frame off restorations in 49 years, 4th paint job, new interior, The car was under water to the base of the windshield in the mid 80's. Completely rewired from scratch. It has been garaged since 1996 and never sees salt, and rarely rain. sunny days only. Regarding pulling motors two 70+ year olds actually picked mine up and put it the back of a truck. Not me ! I am a firm believer of mechanical advantage. Plus the last thing I need to do is blow out my back. Oh by the way the body is fiberglass, so the only rust that can happen is the tube chassis.
