Hawk
Due to current events, and like most everyone here, I'm spending a great deal of time in my shop and at my scroll saw. In the past I'd always stand when sawing, but with the added time I'm spending at the saw along with the fact I'm no longer as young as I think I've changed my shop around so that now I'm seated when on the scroll saw.. I've tried a few different chairs but haven't found anything that really is comfortable yet. What are you using when seated at your saw? Roberta Moreton
I use a drafting chair for my EX21. My saw sits high. The drafting chair is very high. I use a bar stool for my Dewalt scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
I built a very low stand for my EX and I found an old office chair at one of the lots after they cleared the mobile home out. I brought it home and cleaned it up and at it's uppermost position, it's perfect. And I left the arms on it. I guess it all depends on the height of your saw. You might make a trip to Staples of Office Depot and sit in their office chairs. I see used chairs on Facebook Marketplace all the time for free on up. Never very much. dgman
Got this chair from Amazon about two years ago and it’s been great. Adjusts low enough to have your feet flat on the ground and as high as 34”. The foot rest is adjustable as well as the back. The seat is very comfortable as well as the back. The wheels move smoothly along the concrete floor and the rubber floor mats. scrollingforsanity, GrampaJim, OCtoolguy and 2 others 4
Hawk
My saw is a Delta P-20, I have it on the stock stand, which I'm now thinking is a bit too high. I'm thinking it's time to consider making a scroll saw stand/table that's a bit lower..... Chris scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy
jollyred
My profession was a draftsman, and I did manual drafting for about 30 years, till I had to learn to use a computer to do drafting. So I am used to a stool that is high enough to allow you to stand or sit at the drafting board while working. So when I built my workbench, I made it the height I kept my drafting table and used a drafting stool at it. When I got my lathe and scroll saw, I made the table for them high enough to use the same drafting stool. Now that I can't stand for any length of time, this works real well for me. loftyhermes
I use one of these chairs, my daughter bought it off the internet several years ago. The best present ever for the shed. BadBob
I have one of these. It took me a long time to find one that had enough adjustment range. I like it a lot. I have it adjusted so all I need to do to start my saw is relax my foot. OCtoolguy and GrampaJim 1
NC Scroller
I use a 29" wooden bar stool. I have used it for years and on different brand saws (Hawk, EX, Hegner, and DeWalt) on factory stands. OCtoolguy
redwine
Its great to hear from another scroller that has the Delta P-20! I have a draftsman chair that I bought from Staples about 5 years ago simple because of the height of the original stand and did not want to go to the trouble of constructing something else to put the saw on. The chair has more than served its purpose. The problem with it now and has started it about a year ago, is that when it is cold, winter time, I can not set all the way back in the seat as the seat goes down! As soon as the weather warms up the problem goes away! I know it has some thing to do with the seal but don't know of any kind of fix for it. After all of this virus thing settles down I will look around for a new one! Being that I am 6 foot tall I need a draftsman chair to be comfortable at the saw. WayneMahler
I use a wooden bar stool that I cut about 2 inches of the bottom of the legs. Comfortable and the seat swivels has no back on it . OCtoolguy

MrsN
I just got the Dewalt chair that Badgers linked to. @baggetta had a blog post about it and it had the right dimensions so I showed it to my husband who bought it as an anniversary present. I have my shop set up as my distance learning classroom so it has gotten a lot of hours in a short time and is quite comfortable. My drafting stool does that also, so I cut a length of pvc pipe to fit around the upright. Now the pipe keeps the seat at the right height. Woodmaster1
I use a padded shop stool from craftsman for new Delta and an office chair for the old Delt on a stand made from a Steve Carmichael plan. My picture wouldn't load for the Old Delta stand. It could be used on the Dewalt style scroll saws. OCtoolguy

I know my replacement has built a shed step by step online. They have also setup zoom for group instruction. Good luck with online instruction. teachnlearn
Chairs are like beds. Locate a GOOD Office supply, Office/ furniture supply. Try...Try...Try.... Does it fit, does it adjust, just it work for your back, neck, arms. If your going to use this chair for hours on end, you will quickly find a chair that doesn't fit, will leave you with back pain, neck, shoulder pain. Even check the large city upscale office supplies and check out the chairs. You can then know what you want and shop for deals. You can either modify or go with the height of the scroll saw. Also know if your going to get up a lot for supplies or needing to grab tools or move projects. A bar stool type is easier. Sitting with feet flat on the floor my ease back, leg, foot pain.
