mikesscrollsaw
it stands about 6 inches tall and about 3.5 inches wide. the drawers are lined with black flocking. Finished with a high gloss laquer (mohawk) the front and back are black walnut (a tree I cut down and then milled into 1/4 inch thick boards), i'm not sure what wood the body is made of. It was some scraps I got from a local cabinet shop. I just thought it looked good. it was very hard wood though.

mikesscrollsaw
Thanks for all the compliments! This is one of the items I'm taking to a craft show in a couple weeks. Hopefully I do ok maybe make some money for the new scrollsaw. I almost don't want to sell this one it came out so good I hate to see it go! toolbeltman
VERY nice box Mike.....looks great...If it were mine I would have a hard time parting with it! Would you mind telling us how you apply the flocking?...Hope you don't mind me asking...I have no idea how you do that ....finishes off the inside well... mikesscrollsaw
It's pretty easy actually. I bought a mini flocking kit from rockler 1- paint the glue on the area you want the suede 2-pump the material liberally onto the glue 3- wait 15 hours for it to set the knock out the excess I turn it over and tap on the bottom, then with a very light air pressure from my compressor I blow out the area. It can take up to several days for it to fully cure for normal use. Spread newspaper down to catch all the excess suede material it can be reused. Since you can catch all the unused material don't be afraid to put it on heavy. I think there is a video on steve goods web site about how to do it. mikesscrollsaw
I photocopied a bunch of pages from a book at the library. Don't know what book it was anymore. I wanted to make another box like this and started to dig through my pile of patterns. This one was the largest I could make with the wood I had on hand. There were a large number of patterns in that book. Lots of good stuff
