From what heritage did this scroll work come?

I have been a large format photographer for years.  I took this picture of an old abandoned farm house north of Fargo North Dakota in 1999.  I was struck by the intricate craftsmanship above the window and still evident in the vertical casing on the right side that showed through despite the decay.

Would you guess the design was from German, Swedish/Norwegian or other heritage?
