The one with pegs you see above is the first request for pegs. Every customer the past 3 weeks that I've taken an order for, I show them the hooks and the pegs... So far it's about 15 for hooks and 1 for pegs. don in brooklin on Posted June 24, 2020 Report Share Posted June 24, 2020 Interesting. I would have thought with the size of a lot of the wide leashes that pegs would be more popular. I make Sports Ribbon Racks and only made one with hooks and then had to remake with pegs there wasn't enough room. It will be interesting if it changes. Rolf Posted June 25, 2020 Report Share Posted June 25, 2020 Mel I bought a KKMoon 7W , it is a NEJE laser, If I were to do it again I would buy the Orture brand, mainly because it gives you greater flexibility in what control software you can use. The NEJE line uses a proprietary software. It is very easy to use. Orture allows you to use a more generic Laser GRBL. The benefits are that should you decide to engrave images it gives more control over the laser power for things like gray scale. I Know "too much technical information" but do a little research and you will get a better idea. I had previously purchased this NEJE one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M9CB3P7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 back last November but it is a little smaller engravable size area then I want and it did not engrave very well (if at all) on harder woods like maple even when I had it do it 10X times. It did engrave fine on soft wood like baltic burch. I wanted to be able to use to "sign" pieces on the back and possibly personalize like Iggy is doing. Plus as Rolf noted, while the proprietary software for the NEJE line is fairly easy to use - I still found it a bit lacking in some areas. What I would like is something easy to use, that will engrave on harder woods easily (which means more power wattage on the laser) and give me a bigger engraving area without breaking the bank. I have looked longingly at the Epilog line of lasers and the Glowforge over the years. However, both are in the "break the bank" area plus I don't like that the Glowforge can only be used with their online program. I don't want to be locked into an "online only" program that can suddenly disappear should something happen to the Company. My problem is I start researching them, get overwhelmed with all the information and not understanding the technical jargon and understanding the ratings of the lasers when everyone lists them so differently that I walk away confused again! I will check out the ones that you both got and the one Rolf indicates might be better. If anyone has any insight on what is good on the "laser" wattage or strength I would appreciate that knowledge. But here is the thing, some of us bought expensive custom irons or wood burning sets to brand our logo or name on things we sell. The irons are consistent but custom engraving with a wood burner takes some real skill. Iggy is doing some beautiful work and personalizing it. With a laser engraver you can use any font and scale that you want. All of the information bellow is things that I have found in my digging. I should have done this before buying the laser that I have. I am no expert by any means, but I did use an industrial laser for many years to precisely cut Silicone wafers into custom shapes. First all of these smaller laser power ratings are misleading. the 3.5 , 7, 20 watt are in reality the power consumed by the entire unit, NOT the power of the laser. The actual power of a 7w (7000mw) laser is only 2.5watts. the 20w laser is only 5.5w. Most of these NEJE lasers with their controller and software only turn the laser on and off, If you want o burn gray scale images you want a laser with Puls width modulation. In english that means it has to capability to vary the laser intensity as it goes along. LaserGrbl is a control software http://lasergrbl.com/ that will do this as long as the laser is compatible. As far as cutting goes,these lasers have a very narrow focal point so these small lasers even the 5.5W (advertised as 20) will only cut "The 5.6 watt laser easily cuts plywood and acrylic 3-5 mm (0,1-0,2″) thick, and it even cuts plywood 8 mm (1/3″) thick with many passes (requires Z axes for that)." The "z" axis will move the laser up and down to maintain the focus. The cheaper laser have to be focused manually.
