kardar2
Hello all, So I been having a problem with the wood puzzles. So you know I have a Excalibur 21 which is a about one year old. I am cutting wood puzzles out of 1" walnut I have checked my blade to make sure it is strait by cutting a on a scrap piece of wood the piece comes out smooth from top and bottom, but when I cut the puzzle out pieces won't slide out on on side which requires sanding. I get the piece to were it tight then I hold it up to the light to see where it is binding up then I sand those areas. So why would this be doing that? thanks Karl
mikesscrollsaw
If the piece won't fall out then your cutting at an angle. Could be simply the angle of your table to blade is not zero or the blade is bending causing an unintended tapered cut. What size blade are you using on this one inch thick walnut? I'd suggest a 9. Or even a 12 if it's not an intricate cut.
kardar2
no I am using a number 01 FD blade
amazingkevin
My guess is that the wood being so hard ,extra pressure is needed to cut it and that will throw off the bottom of the cut in the wood from the blade bending.I'm only guessing. kardar2
Yeah Kevin I think your right. I used a bigger blade and it worked right. I thought it would work with a thin blade. I thought that I would only have to worry about the blade breaking.
two saws
If you want to use that thin blade you will have to slow the speed and/or feed rate down and especially when making the tight turns for the nobs. By using 1 inch thick wood I assume the puzzle will be for a child, in which case the larger blade will work much better. Ervin
